Vermont in the Civil War

A Must See site for anyone interested in Vermont's Civil War heritage. 

Green Mountain Civil War Round Table

The Green Mountain Civil War Round Table is a round table located in the White River Junction VT area. This round table is very active in putting on the  annual Full Duty Banquet with the proceeds going to battle field preservation. Many members of the 18th VT are also members of the GMCWRT.

Vermont Medal of Honor Recipients

Nice site listing all Vermont's Medal of Honor recipients in the Civil War.

Vermont Civil War Hemlocks 

This is the official site of the VT Civil War Hemlocks reenacting group. This group has  had a big part in the success of the VT Civil War Expo, and the Hemlocks are partners with the 18th VT in the battle  for Flag Preservation.

Vermont Sons Of Union Veterans

Anyone with Ancestors that fought for the Union should check out this site.

Friends of the National Parks at Gettysburg

The Friend's of the National Parks at Gettysburg works closely with the National Park to help preserve and restore the Gettysburg Battlefield. Check out their site, and consider joining the Friends. This group has won many preservation awards over the past few years.

Civil War Preservation Trust

The CWPT is the leading group in Battlefield preservation. This group has saved thousands of acres of battle sites from development. A very worth while cause. In the past the 18th has donated money to the CWPT for use in preserving the fields at Third Winchester, Cedar Creek, and Malvern Hill. All battles where Vermont troops fought.

The Civil War News is a monthly  current events newspaper that puts an emphasis on reporting preservation issues, with event listings, book reviews, columns,
letters, news, features and advertising.

This paper is based in Tunbridge Vermont, and has been a big supporter of the 18th Vermont's fund raising efforts.

Pamplin Historical Park

This is the official site of Pamplin Historical Park and The National Museum  of the Civil War Soldier. The park is located in Petersburg VA., and the site that Jackson Sargent and the 5th Vermont crossed the Confederate trenches is located within the park boundries.

Weldon Railroad

GMCWRT member Dr. David Cross' site regarding the First Vermont Brigade's involvement at the Battle of Weldon Railroad on June 23, 1864.
