Farmers' Night at the Vermont Statehouse March, 26, 2003 6th Corp Headquarters Guidon & 1st VT Brigade Flag Original Vermont Civil War Battle Flags hang from the balcony in the House Chamber for the first time in over 130 years Emblems of Valor: Vermont's Civil War Battle Flags was held at the Vermont Statehouse Wednesday March 26, 2003. The program was presented by the Friends of the Vermont State House and by the Eighteenth Vermont Regiment, Inc. It focused on the history and importance of Vermont's Civil War Battle Flags. The evenings entertainment included excerpts read by Reenactors and living historians of veterans writings and speeches regarding the flags. Four of Vermont's Civil War Flags were present in the House Chamber during the celebration. Period Music was provided by members of the cast of the Ground Hog Opry. Members of the following Vermont Civil War organizations participated in the Ceremony: The 18th VT Regiment, The Vermont Civil War Hemlocks, the 1st Vermont Cavalry, and the 2nd Vermont Infantry.
The Eighteenth Vermont would like to thank the Friends of the Vermont State House, and all of the participating units for helping to bring the importance and plight of Vermont's Civil War Battle Flags to the public's attention.
